Sleep is the remedy for all the diseases!

Sleep is the most important and the most interesting act of a human life. It is said that the new born babies increase in their size to about a centimeter while in they are sleeping. But when we grow old this act provides us rest physically. It is also proven fact that the brain is still working while one is asleep may be not to its full capacity. It was in a competition conducted in US where to make a record of being awake for the most hours constantly. A person clown by profession stayed awake for seven days in continuation. It was for him a record breaking act which made him sleep for next four day in sequence. On the last day of his record breaking act he was not able to speak or recognize any thing. So it is proven that sleep is the most important thing in our live.

“Early to bed early to rise makes a man healthy wealthy and wise” is an old saying which seem to be changing in the present time. The people working in the corporate have heavy pay packets but they sleep for less than 6 hours to achieve what they desire at the end of the month.

Sleep disorder is a problem when we are not able to fulfill the required parameters which our body needs for rest through sleep. The people employed in the corporate sectors are under pressure to achieve the targets within the required time frame. This leads to tension, stress, discomfort, psychological stress, etc which are the direct outcomes of sleeplessness. According to Dr. Gupta, “Sleep is the only way where a person is free from his/her fatigue. But the youngsters who work for late hours without taking due rest reduce their work ability to about 40% which they cannot understand while they are young. It is exertion which leads to increase in the blood pressure as while you are in a regular thought process the brain requires more of blood and as the heart has to pump more vigorously, it develops wearing and leads to cardiac problems”. Further elaborating on the required time of sleep he added that a normal person must sleep for about 6 hour that too a sound one. One must drop all the tension and work load as he/she changes clothes while going to bed.

According to Healthcare Status report brought out by the Associated Chambers of Commerce and Industry of India (ASSOCHAM), about 24 percent of corporate employees sleep less than 6 hours in a day due to high stressed levels that arise out of tough targets set for themselves by employers and cause diseases like hypertension, sugar, stress, cardiac problems and many more.

“Early to bed early to rise makes a man healthy wealthy and wise” are still the golden words which can make a person to enjoy his life to the brim because, “When money is lost: something is lost, when honour is lost: much is lost but when health is lost: everything is lost. (by N Naqvi)
